The Cat Hoarder Simulator

Mewgenics has been in development hell for years, but Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac) has finally delivered. At its core, it is a game about managing a house full of cats, but it quickly spirals into a complex RPG involving genetics, diseases, and tactical warfare.

You start with a few stray cats. You feed them, breed them, and watch as traits are passed down. Sometimes you get a cat with high strength and sharp claws; other times, you get a cat with narcolepsy and a fear of mice. The DNA system is incredibly deep, ensuring that every cat feels unique (and usually flawed).

Tactical Combat

When you aren't breeding, you are taking your team of cats out on adventures. The combat is grid-based and turn-based, reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics but with more poop and scratches. Class synergy is key. A "Tank" cat can absorb damage while a "Healer" (who might literally lick wounds) keeps the team alive.

"Mewgenics balances its gross-out humor with genuinely deep strategy. It's Pokémon meets XCOM, but infinitely weirder."

Verdict

Mewgenics is addictive, hilarious, and deep. The loop of breeding better cats to survive harder dungeons is satisfying, and the sheer amount of content—items, mutations, furniture—means you will be playing this for hundreds of hours, just like Isaac.
